Campaign Training for Progressives

So you want to run for office, but feel under-prepared? Lucky for you, there are tons of ways to learn more.

Lynchburg Citizen’s Academy - designed to give participants an insight into the operation of the various departments of the government. A series of 12 weekly informational sessions are presented each Thursday evening, 6:30 pm - 9 pm, at various government locations around the city with an optional Saturday tour scheduled as well. Each week, City government experts will discuss diverse topics, often with a hands-on approach to learning about specific services provided by the City.

Sorensen Institute - helps the Commonwealth's leaders develop collaboration skills, trust, ethics, and a mastery of public policy.
- Political Leaders Program (PLP): Sorensen's flagship leadership development program is for seasoned professionals in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors who live or work in Virginia and are already engaged in the political, civic, business, nonprofit or governing life of their locality, region or the Commonwealth.
- Emerging Leaders Program (ELP): Sorensen designed this program for Virginians in the first decade of their career who have an interest in assuming greater responsibility in the community through leadership, policy, and governance.

Emerge Virginia - to meet the growing need for our candidate trainings across Virginia, Emerge Virginia is pleased to offer Democratic women bootcamp programs to help them prepare to run and win.
Progressive Change Campaign Committee - explicitly for the progressive side of Democratic politics, they have tons of great online training resources and an amazing 3-day campaign bootcamp. It will change your life!
Arena - convenes, trains, and supports the next generation of candidates and campaign staff. Amazing webinars with the practical tools for building a winning campaign.
Run for Something - aims to recruit and support young, diverse progressives to run for down-ballot races in order to build sustainable power for Democrats in all 50 states.
National Democratic Training Committee - courses are available in-person and online 24/7. Are you a candidate, campaign staffer or volunteer, at the beginning stages of your campaign or in the home stretch? They have the courses to address your specific needs and arm you with the knowledge to win.
